La Fiesta

Mi gusta La Fiesta. Translation? I like the party. But I actually I like La Fiesta, the Mexican restaurant in Waco, Texas! They are known for their delicious Mexican food. La Fiesta is an inviting with the fun atmosphere and setting. It is always a good choice to entertain friends and family. Plus it is Waco's #1 choice for Mexican Food.
"If you are craving Mexican food and looking for variety, you should go to La Fiesta. They have the largest selection of entrees. Not to mention that they are really good!" Dale Greenwood said.
They serve great food, which is obviously the most important thing. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This is my parents' favorite Mexican food restaurant in Waco, because there is nothing else like it.  They have good guacamole (my personal favorite), queso (normal, loaded or queso blacno) and salsa! What I love about the main courses is that you order one thing and you get two sides! There are many choices (authentic and typical) for you to choose from. If you are in the mood for dessert after your delicious appetizer and main course, there are many options for you to choose from. You have traditional Mexican desserts like sopapillas and flan and other options like key lime pie and a chocolate lava cake. La Fiesta is a very versatile restaurant. With your authentic mexican food to your typical american food. You want it, they have it. No wonder La Fiesta has been a Waco hotspot for a while. La Fiesta is a great place to dine out on a dinner date or go to with friends and family. It has food to suite everyone's style. I highly recommend La Fiesta to anyone looking for a fun and different Mexican food restaurant, because La Fiesta isn't your typical Mexican food restaurant. It is better. You won't regret it.

Health Camp

Health Camp is such an ironic name. You hear the name and you probably think I am going to tell you about something really healthy, but that is FALSE. But let me tell you, it is delicious, greasy deliciousness! It is what you imagine when you think of a hole in the wall, college burger joint! It has been hopping in Waco since 1948, what an iconic burger place in Waco. It could have been here when your grandparents were here, how crazy?! That just tells you how good Health Camp is, not to mention you see signs everywhere in Waco and on I-35 about Health Camp.
"Health Camp is a hoppin' burger joint that is always a hit!" Cain Kirk said.
Health Camp is a tiny restaurant with delicious shakes, burgers, onion rings, tater tots and fries. Everything there is fresh off the grill or just made right in front of your eyes. You name it, it is good at Health Camp, but probably not healthy! Oopsie. Oh well, you can give in everyone once in a while....especially when you pass through Waco! It is one of those meals where you crave that burger and fries later and you won't settle for anything less than the best! No fast foot restaurant lives up to Health Camp. It might be greasy, but there is just something different about going to a place that has been loved for so many years and that it a one of a kind restaurant. You will find nothing like it. There is nothing like Health Camp. You will not look back at your decision to go visit Health Camp. I have never met anyone that didn't enjoy it. You will love Health Camp, just like I know everyone else does.

Cafe Cappuccino

Cafe Cappuccino, the BEST breakfast place in Waco, hands down. I have never gotten anything that I haven't loved. It has amplified my love for breakfast food. The bacon is crisp and had great taste, while the pancakes are as big as your plate, as you can see in the picture. There are multiple different types of pancakes you can get! I tend to stay with the traditional buttermilk pancakes, but there are many unique kinds! More than you can imagine! There is blueberry, chocolate chip, banana, banana nut, gingerbread, wheat and the list goes on and on! They have delicious french toast as well. I think the batter includes cinnamon sugar. The bacon is perfectly crisp, unless you ask for it another way. They are more than willing to cook anything the way you like it. They also have the best cappuccinos, lattes and hot chocolate. They are very good, they live up to the name of the restaurant! I have never ordered anything from Cafe Capp that I haven't liked.

My parents love to get me gift cards from here, because this is where I go if I want a delicious breakfast! I always leave happy and full and so does everyone else I go with.
"Cafe Capp's pancakes are the best in Waco. They have made me refuse to eat Ihop pancakes." Dale Greenwood said.
Cafe Capp can be very crowded, because of the popularity of it. So sometimes there is a wait, but most of the time there isn't a wait. I think this place is the perfect place for brunch or breakfast! It fills you up and leaves you feeling good and full. Another plus about Cafe Capp is that it is fairly cheap! One pancake is about $2 or $3. Pretty cheap considering how much pancake you are getting. You get a great deal when you eat at Cafe Cappuccino. It is a popular spot that is a must for anyone wanting breakfast or brunch in Waco. There are even two locations! I would recommend Cafe Cappuccino to everyone, you won't regret going to Cafe Capp.

George's

George's, a Waco tradition. It is so good, that my dad went to George's while he was in college and remembers it being as good as it is today! Mhmmmm it is so good, I love it! This is a good hole in the wall restaurant to take friends who have never been to Waco before, It will leave them with a good impression. You can never go wrong with an appetizer at George's. My personal favorite is the Big "O" onion rings. No joke, they are big, but so perfect! I also have ventured out into trying the fried jalapenos! They are good as well, if you want a little kick to your appetizer. George's is known for their chicken fried, so that is what I always get. It is delicious and perfectly fried. It is a good hearty meal. They are also known for their big "O" cups, which can contain any drink you like. They are famous for them, so I am sure they are good!
"Everything at George's is delicious, but if there is one thing that got me hooked, it was the delicious big "O" and the appetizers." Susanne Kirk said.
The atmosphere of George's is so fun on a game day, there are TVs everywhere so no matter if you're a Baylor fan or a fan of another team, you are sure to find it on one of the many screens at George's. This is the perfect spot to sit back, relax and enjoy the big game! You are sure to have a good time! I would recommend George's to anyone. It has great food, drink and a fun atmosphere. George's is a Waco must! It is legendary. It is a fun college town spot that is always a hit. Sometimes George's is so crowded that there are ridiculous waits, but if you go at the right time, you will be lucky enough not to wait for the delicious food and drinks. It is clear that George's is home to wonderful food and drinks, so I recommend that you go next time you are in Waco, you and your tummy are sure to leave happy.

Baris

Mi piace l'Italia. Mi piace cibo. Mi piace cibo di l'italiano. Mi piace Baris.

Translation? What you don't speak Italian?!  Mama Mia! Ok... (don't worry, I don't either, I am just in Italian class)

I like Italy. I like food. I like Italian food. I like Baris.

But really, I enjoy eating at Baris in Waco, Texas. It is a family owned restaurant with amazing and cheap Italian food. What more could a college kid want? I have loved everything I have gotten at Baris. First, I always get the rolls! They are seriously as big as your face...ok not really, but close enough! They come out fresh and so hot that they melt the butter in the packets underneath it! You have to order the rolls whenever (not IF, WHEN) you come to Baris! It will change you life, just saying.

This was the first restaurant I took my parents to when I was a freshman at Baylor. We have been back multiple times since then. My parents have even taken my grandparents to Baris when they have visited!  They love everything they have tried on the menu. They never look back and regret going to Baris.
"Baris is such a unique and delicious restaurant. It is the ideal hole in the wall college town place to eat!" Susanne Kirk said.

Baris has an two ideal locations. One on Valley Mills and one closer to Woodway. So you have no reason not to stop by one day after work, school or church! It is always packed, but has quick service! I have never had to wait. I have also never tried something on the menu that I haven't enjoyed. The meals here are cheap, but so delicious. Mama Baris doesn't fail our taste for good food! The meals come out steaming and hot enough to burn your tongue, but that is good because then you know it is fresh. The salads are so good, the dressing is served in ketchup bottles. It is unique and the dressing is fantastic. A random thing that I love about Baris is the ice that comes in the drinks, it reminds me of Sonic ice...it is really good! It is the little things that we all know and love. Baris is seriously one of the greatest Italian food places that I have been to, cheap and yummy. It is something I crave when I am not in Waco. Everyone needs to visit Mama Baris and Baris sometime soon, you won't regret it I promise.

Cathay House

Do you want authentic Chinese food? Do you want to be in an environment where you feel like you are in another country? Then go to Cathay House, you won't regret it. Not to mention that it has been voted the best Chinese food in Waco for the past 6 years or so. I am no surprised, because it is that good! It is located off of valley mills. It is in wooded acres! The building is so authentic too! It looks like a oriental house...literally. Do you see what I mean? What more could you want? I think someone lives there, but it doesn't matter. Because this food is so delicious, they must eat, breath and sleep Cathay House in order to perfect this unique restaurant.

I have taken many people to Cathay House that have never heard of it. They are never let down! My friend Bailey loved it so much that she even took her mom there when her mom was in town. We have talked about Cathay House so much, because she enjoyed her meal there so much.
"Cathay House is some of the best Chinese food that I have ever had. It is like I just uncovered a hidden treasure!" Bailey Caffee said.
You get so much food for what you spend. At Cathay House, you get fried noodles, soup, chicken, an egg roll, rice and a fortune cookie for $10! It looks pretty yummy, right? And it is generous portions, might I add! I alway leave full and more than satisfied when I leave Cathay House. It is always nice to go to a restaurant that is unique to wherever you are. I am so glad that I one time went out on a limb and tried Cathay House....best decision ever. I don't think anyone would regret going, because this place is so delicious, convenient location and always a quiet atmosphere! It is a relatively small restaurant, but I have never had to wait for a table. I think it is almost an undiscovered restaurant in the Waco and Baylor community. I believe it is a Waco treasure that needs to be known throughout the Baylor community, because this is better and cheaper than Pei-Wei and better than Panda Express. If you want Chinese hit up Cathay House. Everyone should venture out to Cathay House, because her house is your house and they never disappoint!

one life, one love and one lunch time

I figured out that I really enjoy talking about food. I know, kind of weird, but I do! I love trying new restaurants in Waco! Ironic enough that I decided to call my blog "food for thought" since there is a restaurant in Waco called that! But I love food, trying new foods and places! It is fun going to school at Baylor and being in Waco, but I still love going home for the holidays, because I still get to experience a bunch of different restaurants. I have always secretly wanted to be a food critic. Like get paid to go eat somewhere and evaluate it. Free meals...that would be cool! So I figured I would make a blog on food, talking about places and items I like to eat! I think it is important to find the good restaurants, because after all.

While I venture out and find new Waco treasures, I kind of imagine Disney's Beauty and the Beast song "Be Our Guest," because I will be tasting all this food so it is like they are telling me to be their guest and enjoy my meal. Plus, who doesn't like that song or movie? But doing this will be fun and adventurous. I love trying new places and things to eat. I think everything I try will be good. So why not go big or go home and try something new? You only have one life, one love and one lunch time!

Buon appetito i miei amici!
(Enjoy your meal my friends!)
